Apps You Can Use to Save Money in the New Year!
Times have changed from clipping and printing coupons to using more Apps!  So, here is a list of Apps that will help you save money and stay within your budget while shopping! I’ve included some things that I think are important to note on each of these apps. (Click the name of app to learn more and to get it!)

Ibotta

It’s one of my faves because it’s really easy to use and offers “any brand” rebates!  In most cases you can buy multiples items and earn on each one.  Cashback values can very by individual or location.  100% cash back offers aren’t uncommon — who doesn’t love freebies!?  You can earn extra cash through bonuses too.  It’s available at most major stores (leaves out some of the smaller local grocery stores).  It includes shopping beyond the normal household goods like clothing stores, hardware stores, restaurants, and more!  Opt for Paypal or Gift Card when you cash out!

Fetch Rewards

Scan your receipts to earn points for buying popular brands like Kool-Aid, Kraft, Dove, Suave, Oscar Mayer, Campbell’s, Kleenex, Huggies, and MORE!  And even if your receipt doesn’t contain one of the featured items, you will still earn points for just uploading it!  Even better, they often offer 100% back items.  That means, when you buy the item they specify, you’ll get your purchase price back in points!  You can redeem your points for rewards — there are lots and lots of gift cards!  Now, if you use the promo code A0KUA (that second digit is a zero) you’ll get a bonus of 2,000 points on your first receipt.  Depending on what you buy, you could have a gift card with just your first receipt!

Checkout 51

Claim rebates on items with receipts from ANY store (though some offers may be store specific). You can use on your mobile phone OR on your computer.  The offers are available for only one week, released on Thursdays and end on Wednesdays, but there are limited quantities of some of them.  You’ll want to read fine print as some offers are not valid if you use a coupon.  You can be paid by check or PayPal.  They even offer samples from time to time!

Receipt Hog

Simply upload pictures of retail receipts and earn points based on amount spent.  You can earn bonuses along the ways as you level up.  Points can then be redeemed for Amazon and Paypal.  It does take a while to get enough points to redeem, but not a difficult process, so I don’t mind it.

Coupons.com

Recently revamped!  Now all you have to do is add your offers to your list, then after you purchase the items, take a picture of your receipt and scan the barcodes on the items.  You’ll get cash via Paypal — almost immediately at that!  (Tip: Make sure you add the offer to your account BEFORE you shop!)  They even offer freebies from time to time! So this is a real viable option for those of you that can’t print but love those Coupons.com coupons!

Flipp

Features select Weekly Store Ads all in one place and allows you to search by Store or by Items/Brand names!  This one is also available as a website.  I find I use it most when I’m needing just a few items…I see which stores have them on sale before I go!

Upside

Upside is a FREE cash back app where users can earn up to 25¢ per gallon cash back on gas, up to 45% cash back at restaurants, and up to 30% cash back at grocery stores! You’ll want to enter your zip code or enable your location so that you can see what offers are near you.

Shopkick

Earn rewards in-store and online! Shopkick is the shopping app that rewards you with FREE gift cards for the shopping you already do…simply scan items in stores to earn points or get points for your purchases online or by scanning your receipts.

CoinOut

Simply take a picture of your receipts and earn change…cashout at $20 via Paypal, Zelle, or Amazon. (This one does take quite some time to reach $20…but I’m scanning my receipts anyway, so a few seconds is all I put into it and figure I’ll appreciate the cash when I do reach cashout!)

ReceiptPal

Take pictures of your receipts to earn points that you can redeem for Amazon Gift Cards. You can connect many of your accounts (Amazon, Kroger, Starbucks, Instacart) so there is often not much you need to even do with those!

Do you know of one not listed here?  Please leave a comment and let me know!  I’d love to check it out!

Also, feel free to sound off about any of the ones noted!  What do you love?  Hate?  How much have you saved using it?  Your thoughts could help someone decide if it’s a good fit for them and if they should try it out!
