Walmart Savings Catcher Changes Coming on October 29th

If you’re a Walmart Savings Catcher user, I wanted to make sure you were aware of some of the changes coming soon.  Effective October 29th, Walmart Pay will be the only way to submit your receipt to Savings Catcher. This means that the ability to scan paper receipts within the app or submit via desktop will be discontinued.

They are citing that this change will allow you to both submit and spend your Savings Catcher rewards within the same Walmart Pay experience, making it more convenient.  The announcement also notes “For any questions, please contact us at 1.800.WALMART.”

(I wanted to note that it’s unclear as to what this means for those shopping through Walmart Grocery. Hopefully it will be something they will clarify.)

So what do you think about these new changes?

I’m so disappointed!!  😠  It will simply be the end for me.  I am unwilling to transition to Walmart Pay.  I guess I’ll do more shopping in my jammies on Amazon and let it be delivered to my door!  Seems far less stressful especially since I’m losing ways to save! 🤷‍♀️

  1. Won’t be able to use the app that way….very disappointed…please change back and help us still save money by shopping walmart….this actually makes us have to use other apps to save money

    • I agree! I encourage everyone to call Walmart using the number in the post above to sound off! I paid a visit to my local Walmart today and it was the talk! But as the manager pointed out, these are decisions from the top down and they totally understand why we’re so agitated about it. They are passing it on, but it helps to hear it directly from the customers!

I agree I’m disappointed as well. I was happy when I could just type it in via computer and put it on an E-gift card. I share a phone with hubby and every place is requiring you to have apps here and there to participate in their programs. It’s just getting way to complicated to save money that we’re spending at the merchant’s businesses.

  3. Done with Walmart.Savings Catcher was instrumental in their keeping me as a customer spending hundreds of dollars per week. I don’t want to use Walmart Pay. Bye bye.

I have been a regular user of Savings Catcher, but I buy mostly with Food Stamps and cash, so this change means I will no longer be able to use it. It certainly isn’t making things easier for me! I hate this! I hated it years ago when they ended layaways because it was the only way I could get nice clothes for my kids. I know it was years ago, but it still makes me mad! Then recently they ended price matching! I depended on that so I didn’t need to go to 8 different stores to shop because I am disabled and not always up to it. Now this! I’m not sure what they are trying to accomplish, but the only thing they are doing is making most of their customers angry!

  5. I echo all the disappointed comments. Sam Walton must be rolling in his grave with shame. They feel there will be little impact? Wow. What a callous way to show your customers you don’t give a crap about them. Fine. I’ll take my business elsewhere.

  6. I am also an avid user of savings catcher and i hate the idea that i can no longer just pay cash when i want to use savings catcher..I use different cards according to the balances on them and i do not feel comfortable adding them all to the SC ap.plus i love ibotta and without a paper receipt i will no linger be able to use that ap..So i will now do my grocery shopping else where…I’m sure kroger will be happy to get my 1000.plus a month business.
